Got "THE letter" ....how to proceed?
by 2pink inmy husband and i faded/mysteriously disappeared from meetings over a year ago.
we've had a few visits from elders (where we said very little but thanked them for their time), the last one being when we had some nice jack o lanterns sitting on our porch.
on saturday, we got letters cordially inviting us to our beheading, i mean, our judicial committee meeting.

will jehovahs witnesses make me a permanant "do not call "
by looloo in2 nice ladys called on me the other day , as one started her "speach" the other one looked embarresed , i interupted and said to the embarresed one "you know why im not interested in your religion ,dont you " she replied "yes im sorry i couldnt rember which one you lived in " (i had met her at my door some months ago , and explained that my daughter was raped as a child by a man i had met at the kingdom hall , and some jws support him despite him abusing other jws etc , i had told of the paedpphile problem in the religion and my jw inlaws dont visit my little girl because her daddy is a disfellowshipped man , which i think is very unchristian) the other lady then started admiring my dress , then my little girl appeared and she said how pretty she was etc, i said goodbye and closed the door , i wish i had heard what the 2nd lady had said to her friend in explanation for why i was not interested !
the annoying thing is my little girl then wanted to know who they are and what did they want to talk about , so i explained they were in "that religion that grandma is in "that stops her coming to see daddy , which upset her , then hubby came back from work later in a good mood untill i told him of the visit that had upset our little girl and then he was moody with me and said "dont talk to them again , next time tell them to be made a "do not call " for ever and never ever review it !is it possible to do that in our situation ?
i dont want my family life upset .

The "Do Not Call Campaign" seeks to deny whole neighborhoods as service territory. Ideally the letter is copied and taken to the neighbors and sent in either by them (with a self-addressed envelope) or by you in a manila envelope. Big black line on the map at Bethel.

JYD proved some very valuable principles to successfully winning the older people away!
- Avoid hard facts and figures
- Emphasize the harm caused to mothers and children, a grandparent's tenderest interest.
- Discuss older people who left after years of service (Franz, Harrison)
- Confidently point to the WT CD as the self-damning instrument it is.
- Return visits are VERY impressive!
- You have to have extraordinary patience and persistence to win them over, but a captive situation is something you NEVER pass up!

We all have something to contribute. Screw taking it easy on the oldsters! It's never too late to learn you've pissed away your life! Suggesting it's better to leave them to die in the organization isn't a moral act, not when they've identified themselves as JW! That's a pretty callous disregard for the value of human life near the end. No one is going after deathbed conversions here - the poster is 100% BLOODY CORRECT to point out that the old dude (like many old JWs) go out and spread the word. Further, they put a sappy, grand-parenty spin on the group that is truly at odds with the reality. In my opinion the oldsters should be PRIME TARGETS.

House to House and Door to Door proves to be a shame diversion
by Terry inenglish standard version(2001).
woe to you, scribes and pharisees, hypocrites!
for you travel across sea and land to make a single proselyte, and when he becomes a proselyte, you make him twice as much a child of hell as yourselves.. .

Even the DVDs they release are for internal consumption, limited distribution, aggressively purged from public video sites. It all adds up. I can't believe I haven't noticed these things together before.

How come witnesses can seem to be very friendly to the uninformed worldlies?
by dgp ini know that jehovah's witnesses are told not to be part of the world and not to have worldly friends.
i know that some witnesses do have friends.
but, what i'm curious about is how a witness could sustain polite and seemingly friendly interaction with worldlies and at the same time feel that these are not people s/he should befriend.

It's a little bit more complicated than that. JWs have a shell-shocked look to them that is misinterpreted as happiness, or at least contentment by the uninformed observer. It indicates that they have passed a certain stage in their relationship with the Governing Body, one of uncritical acceptance bound up with a positively morbid wish for a clean, unexpected death. Each time a JW reads an article about a fellow member who has died for their beliefs, the feeling they have in powerful waves is envy, imagining such a pious end would be a golden ticket to paradise.
Here is a youtube video posted by a young JW with the look I'm referring to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NWdVjbm-zg

Menlo Park (CA - USA) Kingdom Hall
by Juan Viejo2 ini received an anonymous email over at ex-jw.com that had an attached legal filing.
the first couple of pages seemed to be standard legal filings, but the rest of the pages looked like standard typed documentation (not in numbered double-spaced legal format.
) i'm not quite sure what to make of it, so wonder if anyone here has heard of it.
